WELCOME TO SPECKLE CENTRAL

Speckle Central was established in central west NSW in 2010 bringing together Speckle Park Studs, Almarlea and Wattle Grove with the central focus being the success of the Speckle Park Breed. The studs wanted to create a breeders group that could promote the Speckle Park breed worldwide and share the genetics that both studs had access to.

Almarlea 68L Melissa F49

Speckle Central with the assistance of Stud Manager Chris Garvin, has had an enormously successful 2011, culminating in an inaugural Interbreed win for Speckle Park. Almarlea 68L Melissa F49 took out the prestigious Junior Heifer class at the 2011 Melbourne Royal Show. This followed on from broad ribbons at Canberra and Sydney Royal shows for the Speckle Central show team.

The success of Speckle Central has given brothers, Andrew and Dale Humphries, Wattle Grove Speckle Park and Mark and Leanne Pointon, Almarlea Speckle Park the opportunity to develop lasting friendships and working relationships with fellow Speckle Park breeders all over the world.

Now Speckle Central has opened its doors welcoming other Breeders that share the same desire to see the Speckle Park breed succeed. Speckle Central has been set up to insure that Speckle Park Cattle have a great future in the beef industry and with the belief that there is strength in numbers.

A handshake and honesty still mean something at Speckle Central.

Orangeville Speckle Park, Wollondilly NSW are the newest members of the Speckle Central Speckle Park Breeders Group. With the purchase of Almarlea 21K Lacerta E7, a leading Speckle Park Sire with an impressive show career, and embryos from Speckle Central, prior to joining the group Orangeville was well on its way to realising their goal of supplying quality Speckle Park meat to the lucrative high end beef market.

“Being part of the Speckle Central Breeders Group has given us exclusive access to International and Australian genetics, as well as having the pleasure to work along with like minded honest cattlemen, to help further the breeds success” said Orangeville principle Shaun Grimston. “With demand for Speckle Park beef here in Australia and overseas constantly increasing, being a part of the Speckle Central team provides the opportunity to grow our business with the support of other Speckle Park breeders.” Orangeville have a rapidly expanding beef supply and export operation that will supply the lucrative high end beef market domestically and internationally. “Having Orangeville on board with Speckle Central means we now have a way to get our product, Speckle Park beef to the market without having to rely on the usual ways and means.” stated Dale Humphries. Orangeville Speckle Park will have quality stock joining the successful Speckle Central Show Team in 2012. They will also have semen available for sale from Almarlea 21K Lacerta E7.

Tungamah Speckle Park, Gingin WA owners Garry and Bloss Thomas and Tony Trainor have also joined the Speckle Central Speckle Park Breeders Group. Believing that the Speckle Park breed is exactly what the WA cattle market has been after, Speckle Central WA has been established to work alongside Speckle Central Speckle Park Breeders Group in the Eastern states. Garry and Bloss have been successfully running commercial Murray Grey and Angus cattle for some time and decided to diversify into Speckle Park after reading about them in The Land. A visit to the Sydney Royal Easter Show and to Oberon NSW to the Speckle Central Open Day in May of this year finalised their decision to get on board with the breeders group. They purchased embryos from Speckle Central and have completed an intensive implantation program of over 100 embryos. An AI program using semen from Speckle Central sires has also been completed for commercial purposes. They have purchased Wattle Grove Action Man E28 and Champagne Pretender as herd Sires as well as bull calf Champagne James Bond. Wattle Grove Action Man E28 will remain in NSW to be used in embryo flushing programs, however his semen will be available for purchase in Western Australia. Champagne Pretender and Champagne James Bond will head to Western Australia and begin the building of the Speckle Park Breed in Western Australia.

By joining with Speckle Central Speckle Park Breeders Group, Speckle Central WA will have access to some of the best breed genetics available from Canada and Australia. “We are on board with the Speckle Central principles of improving and furthering the breed by creating honest and mutually beneficial relationships with breeders both Stud and commercial.
